Angela Crowther

Two fundamental principles underpin Angela’s passion for built environment design: A focus on creating places that enable people to live well and healthily; whilst ensuring responsible use of our planet’s resources. Both are critically important: The scale of the construction industry’s environmental impact is well-documented; as is the compelling evidence regarding the health impacts associated with our surroundings.

There is a disconnect between the translation of health research into implemented actions that seek to improve our built environment. Through the Royal Street project, Angela and her team are seeking to address this; using an outcome focussed, evidence informed approach to inform key design decisions, delivering value to stakeholders and communities.

Angela’s built environment expertise lies in defining desired and quantifiable project outcomes, followed by integrating the breadth of contributing specialists to best achieve their realisation. Angela has led projects ranging from designing sustainable office headquarters fitting of the World Wildlife Foundation at their Living Planet Centre, to the reinvention of the Grade 2 listed Television Centre opening the ex-BBC Headquarters into a mixed-use development the public can enjoy.

Arup's overall purpose of shaping a better world aligns closely with optimising health and wellbeing. We are actively working to understand factors impacting on health and wellbeing to inform how we can most effectively positively contribute across the breadth of our service offering.
