Dr Evangelia Chrysikou DiplArch, MA MARU, PhD

Evangelia is a medical architect with a PhD in mental health (UCL), as well as a former Marie Curie H2020 fellow. Actively involved in policymaking, she is a co-ordinator of the D4 Action Group, European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA), European Commission (EC).

She has consulted for the EC, the Hellenic Ministry of Health, and the Centre of European Constitutional Law on legislation for psychiatric facilities. Her research has focused on mental health, ageing, accessibility, autism, social inclusion, healthcare and wellness buildings, and medical tourism planning in several contexts, including UK, France, Belgium, Greece, Netherlands, Israel, Qatar, Japan and New Zealand.

Evangelia has authored national guidelines for psychiatric facilities for Greece on behalf of the EU; her books include 'Architecture for Psychiatric Environments and Therapeutic Spaces’ and ‘The Social Invisibility of Mental Health Facilities’. She is also a journal editor, reviewer, an active member of professional and scientific associations, and a TED-MED speaker.
