Katie Wood

A director of Arup, Katie provides advice on how the built environment supports health and wellbeing, integrating Arup’s diverse expertise and combining local capability and global best practice. She focuses on the complex interactions between buildings, the urban environment, operational processes, digital technology and people, to realize greater social value from capital developments.

Over the course of her 30-year career, she has successfully led the development of strategy, business cases, planning and delivery for a wide variety of healthcare and mixed-use programmes and projects across the UK, Australia and Canada. Her interest in the wider determinants of health stems from this experience.

Optimising health and wellbeing aligns very closely with Arup's overall purpose of shaping a better world. Going beyond that generalism, we are actively working to understand what factors impact on health and wellbeing, how we can bring together the wide range of our services to respond more effectively, and how we can measure outcomes and value.
